The Texas Sunbelt Series has come to a close. Well, at least for you guys. I've still got a few loose ends to tie up, such as the article in Holeshot Magazine and the posters that Will Pattison is hooking up.
I took the past two days off to wind down and started thinking about how crazy things got as the series progressed and ended. There have been numerous close races, more than a couple ties and many, many emotional moments as racers either lost or gained that position they've worked for the past two months. I want to say, to all the racers, that nothing has been in vain. I've been in all of your shoes, through the good and the bad times you've experienced, and it has left me knowing more about who I am and what I am capable of. Those who won - congratulations, I share your happiness. Those who didn't - hold your head high, I share your pain. To all of you, just know that in the end it is not the trophy that matters, but what you did on the track and how you handled yourself off of it. I feel as though I need to address the category situation also. We had the categories last year and the rules about them have been posted since late 2006. Still, there is a lot of confusion about it and just as much disagreement. Last year, it worked well and that was proven when a 250 beginner ended up 3rd overall in the category. This year, it worked well in the minibike classes and that was proven by they many younger riders finishing above the older. However, I will admit that it did not work as well as I had hoped in the big bike classes. I can honestly say that I wish I could give every rider in the pits a bag of prizes, but it's impossible to do right now. I will say, though, that with continuing support from our sponsors, especially Family Powersports, that one day maybe I will be able to give that much away. I hope, next year, to be able to do more than we did this year. I will say more about that when the time is right. Until then, I hope you all had a good time, I hope you found it worth coming back to next year and if there is anything more I can do for anyone, just let me know. -Michael |
