First of all, happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope you all have safe travels and spend some quality time with those you care about. Oh, and don't forget to eat until you can't stand it, pack up the leftovers and mail them to me. Thanks!
On a more serious note, I wanted to give some thanks of my own concerning Panther Creek, the Sunbelt Series and my motocross family in general. Mainly, I want to thank my parents for allowing and supporting (especially financially) the Texas Sunbelt Series and the races at Panther Creek. This is way bigger than I ever expected it to be and it's only coming into its third year. I love doing it and I'm truly blessed to have a family I can share that with. I also want to thank all of the riders who come out; you guys have become my extended family and are what keeps me going with the series. I appreciate all your time, money and hours behind the wheel to come have a good time with us. Finally, I want to thank all the sponsors that made the series possible, especially Family Powersports. I know I thank them every ten minutes at the races, but they really deserve it.
Above all, however, I have to give thanks to the Lord for making everything possible. For giving my family and I the resources to host these events, for keeping all the riders safe at the races and for bringing so many great people into the mix. I can only see these things falling into place as a work of God and I feel blessed to have these sorts of everday miracles in my life.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

They say the third time is a charm.
That really makes me excited because I'm not sure how the Texas Sunbelt Series would get much better. So, if this next year really is that "lucky" year, I can't wait to see what's in store.
Schedule:
April 11-12 - Lubbock, TX (TNT Raceway)
April 18-19 - Midland, TX (West Texas MX Park)
May 2-3 - Abilene, TX (Spring Valley MX)
May 23-24 - Coleman, TX (Panther Creek)
-NEW THINGS FOR 2009-
1. NO MORE CATEGORIES. We are doing away with the categories since it didn't work out last year. This is a learning experience for me and rider/parent input is an important part of that learning curve. I listen to criticism and try to build on it, so here we go. We will be spreading the contingencies out and will be giving them to every class EXCEPT the open classes. One step at a time, people. Open classes will still recieve overall trophies, just no contingencies.
2. FOUR ROUNDS, FOUR TRACKS. I've always believed the best series are those that have a variety of tracks - no favorites, no locals, no advantages. You probably noticed the new addition - Spring Valley MX in Abilene. This track has been around since 1492 and DAT Promotions will be professionaly handling the races in conjunction with Max's Racing of Abilene.
That's really all that's new, except for the sponsor lineup, which isn't finished yet. More later on that. I will say, however, FAMILY POWERSPORTS is again the title sponsor and heavy hitter for the Sunbelt Series. Go by and thank them for the support.

Sun. - big bikes and ADVANCED 85's
If you're not sure where you fit in, give me a call!

As always, we will focus on the proper techniques and the best way to get faster, smoother and more aggressive. there will be a lot of hard work, but even more good fun.
And yes, there will be follow the leader, MX limbo, obstacle courses and a few things you've never seen!

Hey everyone, just a quick update. I'll be out of the country for the next 6-7 weeks. I'm studying abroad in Monterrey, Mexico to brush up on my Spanish skills. Anyway, I just wanted everyone to know because there will be a delay in recieving posters, points, trophies, etc.
I'm in the airport now and should be in Mexico this afternoon (Sunday) and classes start Wednesday. By then, I should be settled in and able to start knocking some of this stuff out. So, please be patient with me as I work through all of this stuff.
Also, as my phone will be useless, please contact me by email at

The Texas Sunbelt Series has come to a close. Well, at least for you guys. I've still got a few loose ends to tie up, such as the article in Holeshot Magazine and the posters that Will Pattison is hooking up.
I took the past two days off to wind down and started thinking about how crazy things got as the series progressed and ended. There have been numerous close races, more than a couple ties and many, many emotional moments as racers either lost or gained that position they've worked for the past two months. I want to say, to all the racers, that nothing has been in vain. I've been in all of your shoes, through the good and the bad times you've experienced, and it has left me knowing more about who I am and what I am capable of. Those who won - congratulations, I share your happiness. Those who didn't - hold your head high, I share your pain. To all of you, just know that in the end it is not the trophy that matters, but what you did on the track and how you handled yourself off of it.
I feel as though I need to address the category situation also. We had the categories last year and the rules about them have been posted since late 2006. Still, there is a lot of confusion about it and just as much disagreement. Last year, it worked well and that was proven when a 250 beginner ended up 3rd overall in the category. This year, it worked well in the minibike classes and that was proven by they many younger riders finishing above the older. However, I will admit that it did not work as well as I had hoped in the big bike classes. I can honestly say that I wish I could give every rider in the pits a bag of prizes, but it's impossible to do right now.
I will say, though, that with continuing support from our sponsors, especially Family Powersports, that one day maybe I will be able to give that much away. I hope, next year, to be able to do more than we did this year. I will say more about that when the time is right.
Until then, I hope you all had a good time, I hope you found it worth coming back to next year and if there is anything more I can do for anyone, just let me know.
